Description:
On this project, we (Elemental Ecosystems) helped a couple establish their dream of creating a spiritual healing retreat center. In their location, the climate is seasonally very wet, however, most of the soils are dry, sandy, and unhealthy. To restore and hydrate these soils, the client wanted to capture as much seasonal rainfall as they could and keep it on their property. To support this, we implemented a spring-fed water retention feature from a slow-flowing spring. In addition, we built a terrace that aids in carrying the overflow water from the pond down around to hydrate the rest of the land, before eventually flowing to the river. Lastly, we developed a strategic plan for the future and have plans for several next phase projects as well.
